I tried switching to PTP mode, but I still get the "device driver software was not successfully installed" error message. It took a while to get it established and the card needed to be scanned - not sure why - but it worked and the photographs are correctly identified with the Rarely is a solution this damn simple it had me crying after 2 hours of smashing my head against the keyboard.
